“The saddest aspect of life is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.” ⇒ Isaac Asimov
Science is the process for transforming our observations about the universe into knowledge. Since the fifteenth century, the scientific method has been used to systematically acquire, organize and developing knowledge and theories about the universe and to test their predictions. This knowledge is cumulative, and is gained through experiments, observation and theory. There are many different branches of science, and among the things they have in common is a shared knowledge base and use of the scientific method.
Science has no eternal truths, and every law, theory and postulate is subject to continuing reexamination, refutation and refinement according to Professor Sylvester James Gates. All our theories about the universe, its origin and characteristics, and of the nature of life are continually being examined tested and refined in search of a more complete explanation.
